The Rotary Club of ILKESTON is The Rotary Club of Nottingham's first 'daughter club' and was 'chartered' into Rotary Club International in 1922. Ilkeston is one of 72 clubs which make up the rotary area 1220 which covers Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and a part of South Yorkshire.
Our club meets on a Monday night at the Stanhope Arms, Stanton by Dale, Ilkeston. Food is served at 6.30pm and the meeting starts at 7pm. We are a lively, warm and friendly group of people and exist to abide by the Rotary Moto 'Service above self' by putting all our efforts into supporting local, national and INTERNATIONAL charties.
In the past Rotary Clubs were male only membership, some still are. However, Ilkeston now welcomes lady members.

A big well done to the pupils, staff and parents who have collected over 2,000 plastic bottles to help complete the project which will replace the original, badly damaged, greenhouse.

Ilkeston Rotary, again this year, entered a team in the annual Ilkeston 'bed push' in aid of the League of Friends of Ilkeston Hospital organisation. The race is against the clock and teams have to push a hospital bed - with patient - up Bath Street which is the town centre's main shopping street and quite a steep hill! Our thanks to The Worshipful the Mayor of Ilkeston, Councillor Mary Hopkinson for being our patient. Six teams took part and together, thanks to the generosity of the citizens of Ilkeston, they raised over a £1,000. Rumour has it that some of our team also did the push TWICE by helping another team out! Wow well done!
The photograph above shows the team being presented with a trophy by the Chairman of the League of Friends of Ilkeston Hospital, Mrs Eileen Knight.
